Senior Temporary Works Design Engineer – Environment (Water)
What you will be doing:
As Senior Temporary Works Design Engineer, you will oversee all activities related to Temporary Works Design, ensuring compliance with Business Management Systems (BMS) and CDM regulations. You will work within a team providing design and checking services for temporary works such as excavations, platforms, formwork, falsework, and scaffolding. Your responsibilities include offering alternative solutions, value engineering, buildability assessments, and resolving problems or defects, including compliance issues.
Key Accountabilities:
- Design production
- Tender input and subcontractor appointment
- Subcontractor design and coordination
- Construction, Design and Management (CDM)
- Design risk assessments and assumptions
- Identifying improvements to Galliford Try systems, processes, and procedures
About You:
- Civil or Structural Engineering Degree (or higher)
- Knowledge of relevant laws, including The Health and Safety at Work Act and CDM regulations
- Good understanding of structural mechanics and soil mechanics fundamentals
- Previous design experience with contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, or consultants
- Proficiency with CAD and geotechnical/structural analysis software
- Willingness to pursue membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g., IStructE)
