An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sub Agent to join our Midlands team. To be considered, you will come from a Civil Engineering background with previous experience in civils project delivery, in both pre-construction and construction stages. Strong experience of RC works, drainage, groundworks and highways or at least some of these disciplines.
The Sub Agent will manage the successful delivery of a small project, or a defined section/work package of a larger Galldris project, ensuring works are planned, programmed and executed safely, efficiently and to the required standards of quality, programme, cost and environmental performance, while supporting the Site Agent/Project Manager on complex packages.
The Sub Agent will lead and coordinate site teams and subcontractors, maintain strong commercial awareness and accurate records, and build positive relationships with clients and stakeholders to demonstrate Galldris’ self-delivery capability, agility and high safety culture.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Health, Safety and Environment: Takes ownership for ensuring that HSEQ protocols are always adhered to and displaying strong, visible, proactive leadership regarding health, safety, environment and quality. Contribute to the achievement of Galldris’s safety targets and zero tolerance of unsafe working practices and occurrences. Establish and implement site systems and controls consistent with Galldris company standards and project requirements. Ensure the production and communication of risk assessments and method statements to the site supervision. Support and endorse the use of hazard and good practice observation reporting. Support staff and frontline workers’ health and wellbeing. Manage all environmental constraints and requirements.
- Programme and Production: Contributing to the value engineering and buildability of the project. Agreement of programmes and methods of construction with Planner and other appropriate production personnel. Work with the Planner / Project Lead on contract programme updates and narrative in accordance with contract requirements. Ensuring that resource requirements and production outputs are established, monitored and controlled. Carry out constructive analysis of fully resourced programme and ensure production of operational target programmes to reflect the overall contract programme. Lead on short term planning and dissemination of short-term programmes to the site team and supply chain.
- Operational Excellence: Leadership and management of a site team, including onboarding, HSEQ appointments, training, development and competence reviews ensuring the correct resource, equipment, experience and training. Organisation of resources for the overall control and execution of the works including the selection of sub-contractors to carry out the works where necessary. To secure materials and plant necessary to meet specifications and planned programme of work. Maintain accurate material trackers, and manage wastage and allowances of materials. Ensure that RAMS, ITPs, MARs and permits are accurate and signed off before any work commences. Ensure all testing regimes are in place and work inspection requests and check sheets are implemented and adhered to. Identify temporary works requirements and produce or manage the production of detailed and accurate temporary works designs and safe implementation. Ensure project quality standards and handover requirements are met. Ensure non-conformance reports are produced, investigated and closed out in a timely manner. Input into the close out of all contract documentation, sign off of all QA documentation and input into the Health and Safety file. To provide technical reviews of services, products and subcontracts within the section/project.
- Commercial: Input into the management of change within the section/project in accordance with contract requirements in collaboration with the Planner and Commercial team. Input into the management of risk on the project through early warning process and collaboration with the Client / Principal Contractor. Ensure robust cost control in accordance with project budget and forecast. Production of progress reports as required by Client and/or Senior Management. Ensure that the document control processes are adhered to and comprehensive and accurate site records are maintained. Comply with Company policies & procedures. Undertake other duties commensurate with the level of this position.
Experience/Knowledge:
- A successful track record of engineering / operational delivery of civils projects.
- Extensive knowledge of construction techniques, site engineering and temporary works.
- Good knowledge of the requirements and implementation of CDM Regulations and Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental systems.
- Developing knowledge and experience of NEC forms of contract.
Qualifications:
- HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or similar.
- CSCS card.

- Meticulous, organised, proactive with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic.

Desirable skills:
- SSSTS or SMSTS, First Aider, Utilities Appointed Person, Temporary Works supervisor/coordinator, Lifting Appointed Person. Member of an appropriate professional body, ICE/IStructE/CIOB/CIHT/RICS etc.
