This newly established position within the Finance Controls and Compliance team offers an exciting internal opportunity. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting the development, implementation, and execution of Quality Assurance reviews and control testing across Gallagher's Insurer Broker function at the Glasgow Accounting Centre. You will collaborate with all trading divisions within Gallagher Global Brokerage UK GGB UK. Reporting directly to the Finance Controls and Compliance Manager, you will play a key role in monitoring and ensuring adherence to governance and regulatory compliance within the Insurer Broker Accounts IBA Department.
How you'll make an impact:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of comprehensive Quality Assurance framework and methodologies across an operational finance department.
- Conduct thorough reviews and assessment of key departmental processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal procedures and policies.
- Complete control testing to assess design and operational effectiveness.
- Identify any control deficiencies, document findings and support remediation efforts.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of all financial policies with a view to focus on the implications and adherence of the department.
- Collaborate with a diverse range of compliance departments across the business to align IBA process and procedures with relevant sanctions, financial risk and regulatory compliance matters.
- Support with the collation and reporting of relevant compliance and controls information for presentation within Finance dashboards for a variety of stakeholders including COO, CFO and Senior Management.
- Build strong relationships within IBA, wider Finance and other key stakeholders both internal and external, building a reputation as a fundamental point of contact for governance and compliance matters.
- Align with AJG Professional Standards Manual in accordance with statutory requirements for the role with specific attention, but not limited to Whistle Blowing, Treating Customers Fairly and Ethics.
- Liaise with internal staff to ensure we are operating within AJG policies & procedures, and any external regulations on all items.
- Carry out duties following internal policies and procedures in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulation, good governance and Gallagher’s shared values, in particular, putting clients at the heart of our business.
- Take all reasonable steps to ensure the part of the business for which you are accountable for demonstrably complies with applicable laws, rules, regulation, good governance and Gallagher’s shared values.
- If shortcomings are identified, take responsibility for remedial action planning, and action in conjunction with the relevant experts within the firm.
- Collaborate closely and assist with Internal and external audit requests.
About You:
- Part qualified accountant (exams or experience).
- Experienced candidate with good business knowledge, currently undertaking professional qualifications.
- Good understanding and working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Previous experience working in Financial Services management and/or insurance preferable.
- SOX and regulatory/control based environment understanding desirable.
- Ability to prioritise manage and adhere to challenging deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to change.
- Attention to detail.
- Flexible attitude to dealing with multiple tasks and environments.
