At Galileo Empower we bring our extensive experience to a diverse and dynamic development portfolio of Onshore Wind, Solar PV and Battery Storage assets. We develop renewable energy projects which assist the global shift to a sustainable energy future.
As part of our continued growth, we are looking to expand our team in Edinburgh or Cardiff with the addition of a Grid Connection Lead. This role will be a critical member of the team and will lead the connection and commissioning of new grid connections as part of new renewable energy project construction.
Our team enjoys working collaboratively on projects, supporting each other to ensure that we get the best results first time round. You will be a committed team player, able to communicate effectively and confidently with both colleagues and external stakeholders.
Qualifications & skills;
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (a Masters in Power Systems is an advantage).
- Previous experience in a technical role related to grid connections for electricity projects.
- Experience working on renewable energy projects, particularly solar, wind, and BESS.
- Familiarity with Grid Code/ENA G99 and G98 regulations.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders, network operators, and grid consultants.
Key responsibilities;
• Appointing and managing consultants to submit Transmission and or Distribution grid connection applications (inc BELLA/BEGA applications where appropriate) for:
o generation sites (wind & solar);
o Battery Energy Storage Sites (BESS) sites; and
o seeking amendments to existing applications for co-location of BESS and generating technologies (e.g. solar on a wind site).
• Managing the relationships with Network operators DNOs /TNOs /NGET;
• Managing grid connection obligations and compliance for all connections;
• Maintaining awareness of grid connection reform and preparing for
• Input into strategy for identifying and securing new sites based on grid capacity (both generation and demand);
• Undertaking preliminary assessments and managing feasibility studies;
• Participating in project design to response grid capacity availability;
• Providing advice on Managing grid connection budgets; and
• Reporting on budget status, milestones, securities, liabilities etc..
