REPORTING TO: Head Chef / Executive Chef

HOURS: Full-time hours working 4-5 days out of 7.

JOB LOCATION: The Old Inn, 15-25 Main St, Crawfordsburn, Bangor BT19 1JH.

Perched in the village of Crawfordsburn with fabulous views of the country park, The Old Inn is the perfect rural retreat. A new addition to the Galgorm Collection family, this beautiful hotel is located just 10 minutes from Belfast and 5 minutes from the seaside town of Bangor. The Old Inn is bursting with character - think cosy corners, log fires, mini spa, glorious grub, and elegant interiors! We are seeking to add a new chef to our dedicated, dynamic kitchen team. This is an amazing opportunity for a passionate, hardworking chef to prepare and cook with the best locally sourced produce, progress in their careers, and join an award-winning company! Main duties will include but are not limited to:

  • The preparation of local fresh produce and cooking of various cuisines to a very high standard.
  • Running a kitchen section and taking responsibility for all dishes in your section ensuring consistent presentation every time.
  • Ensuring all meals are delivered on time.
  • Manage food standards and quality across all stages of food preparation and production ensuring high standards are consistently met.
  • Working alongside the Head Chef and team to create and develop daily and weekly specials.
  • Assist in the training and development of junior chefs.
  • Ensuring minimum wastage and implementing new ideas for reducing wastage.
  • Working within and maintaining all associated Health, Safety, and Hygiene guidelines/procedures while working.
  • Comply with company food safety policies and legislation.
  • Maintain high levels of cleanliness at all times, making sure your personal appearance and uniform are in line with the required Resort standards at all times.

The Person:

  • Applicant must be passionate about food and have a willingness to work hard in a dynamic evolving kitchen.
  • Have at least 1 year of experience working as a Chef de Partie, working within a busy kitchen environment.
  • Have a keen eye for detail and great organisational skills.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team, be able to multi-task, and work well under pressure.
  • Hold basic Food Hygiene Qualification or above.
  • Have a flexible approach to working shift patterns and be available to work days/evenings and weekends.
  • Must have a good, pleasant manner and be well presented.
  • Have a proven track record and have shown loyalty throughout their career.
