A specialist Lloyd’s managing agency is seeking an experienced Syndicate Accountant to join its London-based finance team.

The business manages discontinued insurance and reinsurance portfolios and offers the opportunity to work within an established run-off environment.

The Syndicate Accountant will be responsible for producing Lloyd’s regulatory returns, maintaining the integrity of financial reporting data and supporting improvements across the finance function.

The role offers hybrid working, with approximately 40% of working time spent in the London office.

Flexible working arrangements will also be considered.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare finance regulatory returns for Lloyd’s and other regulators in accordance with internal and published reporting deadlines.
  • Produce returns including QMA Delta, Solvency UK, US Situs and CAD Situs.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of the data flows supporting the general ledger and wider financial reporting.
  • Take ownership of cash, overseas deposits and Lloyd’s settlement journals.
  • Prepare and review relevant Lloyd’s tax returns.
  • Improve the quality, accuracy and speed of financial reporting through the effective use of systems and data tools.
  • Challenge existing finance processes and identify opportunities for improvement. Skills and experience required:
  • Extensive experience preparing Lloyd’s regulatory returns.
  • Strong knowledge of Lloyd’s reporting requirements and regulatory applications.
  • Excellent technical insurance accounting knowledge.
  • Previous experience working as a Syndicate Accountant, Lloyd’s Accountant or within a closely related London Market accounting role.
  • A strong understanding of general ledger data flows and financial reporting processes.
  • Experience working accurately to demanding regulatory deadlines.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office and data manipulation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to challenge established processes and improve finance activities.

Experience using Sun accounting software and Vision Q&A would be advantageous but is not essential.
