Key Responsibilities
- The Product Research & Innovation Lead – Dermatology will drive innovation and product development initiatives by translating consumer needs, scientific advancements, and market opportunities into differentiated dermatology solutions.
- The role will provide scientific leadership across the innovation lifecycle, partnering with global and cross-functional teams to bring new products from concept through commercialization.
- Build and maintain an innovation knowledge base and opportunity pipeline to support future product development.
- Identify and evaluate innovation opportunities by integrating consumer insights, scientific and technological developments, competitive intelligence, and market needs.
- Support due diligence activities for licensing and Business Development opportunities.
- Partner with Global Marketing and regional teams to conduct competitive assessments, develop innovation briefs, and create differentiated product concepts.
- Define scientific, technological, formulation, positioning, and claims strategies to support innovation development.
- Assess technical, scientific, and regulatory feasibility of concepts throughout feasibility and development phases.
- Drive the development of scientific concepts, technology platforms, hero ingredients, and claims strategies in collaboration with Marketing, Regulatory, Safety, Product Development, Procurement, and Operations.
- Lead product evaluation, sensory assessments, and consumer validation activities to support formulation selection and product performance.
- Support the development of product claims, usage instructions, and packaging artwork.
- Provide scientific support to Marketing and Medical Affairs through claims development, communication materials, HCP toolkits, training resources, videos, and FAQs.
- Represent R&D in Brand and Portfolio Committee meetings, providing technical leadership and input to support stage-gate governance.
Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in a relevant scientific discipline, such as Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cosmetic Science, Biology, or a related field.
- Industry experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in R&D, research, innovation, or new product development within cosmetics, dermatology, skincare, OTC, or FMCG industries, preferably in a global organization.
- Scientific expertise: Strong knowledge of cosmetic science, skincare technologies, formulation development, product evaluation, and active ingredient assessment.
- Innovation experience: Proven experience developing and launching consumer products from concept through commercialization, including claims development and scientific substantiation.
- Consumer and market understanding: Ability to translate consumer insights, scientific data, and market trends into differentiated product innovations.
- Collaboration and leadership skills: Strong communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to influence decisions and manage multiple projects in a global matrix environment.
- Languages: Proficiency in English.
