We have a unique opportunity for a fullātime Junior GIS Consultant to join our team to provide Maternity leave cover. This role is being offered on a one year fixed term contract, ideally commencing in May. We are a diverse multiādisciplinary firm with offices across Scotland and Northern England, specialising in property sales and lettings, and the rural, energy, forestry and commercial sectors. GIS is integral to delivering our services and you will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects across these disciplines. This is a varied and interesting role at a time when the organisationās GIS is significantly evolving. As part of a small and agile team, you will have real opportunity to influence the ongoing development of the GIS architecture used by the company.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Developing and supporting the stack of GIS software used by the company (QGIS, PostGIS GeoServer, FME Form, FME Flow).
- Spatial data management and database design using PostgreSQL/PostGIS.
- Administration of cloudāhosted web GIS platforms (ArcGIS Online, groundMapper, LandApp).
- Provision of spatial analysis, cartography and data management services to clients in the energy, rural, forestry and commercial sectors.
- Training and technical support for a GIS user group of energy, rural, forestry and commercial staff.

Work Pattern
The role is offered on a fullātime basis, Monday ā Thursday 9amā5.30pm & Friday 9amā5pm, a total of 37hrs per week. This is a hybrid role, with two days in the office and 3 days based at home.
To be Successful
Weāre looking for individuals with a genuine interest in using GIS in innovative and interesting ways. You donāt need to be an expert at everything, but you need to have the drive and aptitude to pick up new skills quickly and enjoy identifying and implementing solutions to technical challenges. You will have experience using QGIS, cloud hosted GIS platforms (ArcGIS Online, groundMapper, LandApp), designing spatial databases in a PostGIS or Esri environment and knowledge of or exposure to FME. In addition, you will be able to analyse spatial data and produce technically accurate and visually appealing maps to support decision making by clients and colleagues. This experience may have been developed in an academic or commercial environment. You will be able to communicate effectively at all levels with internal and external clients and be calm under pressure. You will have proven organisational skills and demonstrate the ability to prioritise effectively whilst upholding meticulous attention to detail. We are looking for an individual who will thrive as part of a friendly and collegiate team with a real interest in what they do and a commitment to delivering consistently high levels of service. You require a full clean driving licence (desirable).
