We are hiring experienced Insurance Ontology Specialists for a permanent opportunity based in London. This role is ideal for professionals who have strong insurance domain knowledge, especially in underwriting and/or claims, along with hands-on experience in ontology design, semantic modeling, knowledge graphs, and data modeling.
The selected candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, SMEs, data teams, and technology teams to design and maintain domain-specific ontologies that support insurance transformation, AI/ML initiatives, and knowledge graph-based solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain insurance-specific ontologies focused on underwriting and/or claims processes.
- Work with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and technical teams to capture and formalize domain knowledge.
- Translate complex insurance concepts, processes, and relationships into structured ontology models.
- Build reusable semantic models aligned with organizational data strategies and industry standards.
- Support integration of ontologies into data platforms, AI/ML models, semantic layers, and knowledge graphs.
- Ensure ontology models are scalable, consistent, and suitable for enterprise-level use.
- Continuously refine, enhance, and optimize ontologies based on changing business requirements.
- Collaborate with data architects, business analysts, product owners, and engineering teams to support semantic data initiatives.
- Strong domain expertise in the insurance industry, specifically in underwriting and/or claims.
- Proven experience in ontology development, semantic modeling, and domain knowledge representation.
- Hands-on familiarity with ontology languages and tools such as OWL, RDF, Protégé, or similar.
- Good understanding of knowledge graphs, semantic technologies, and data modeling principles.
- Ability to convert complex business concepts into structured, reusable ontology frameworks.
- Experience working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working on large-scale insurance transformation, data modernization, or digital initiatives.
- Exposure to AI/ML applications that use ontologies, semantic models, or knowledge graphs.
- Knowledge of insurance industry standards, data governance practices, and regulatory frameworks.
