Are you a hands-on problem-solver who takes pride in quality workmanship? We’re looking for a Property Maintenance Operative to join our small, supportive team based in Elgin. You’ll work closely with our Operations Manager on a variety of interesting renovation and maintenance projects – often involving older buildings full of character. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys varied, meaningful work in a friendly environment where high standards and preserving the unique charm of our properties really matter.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Carry out general maintenance tasks including painting, decorating, basic joinery (adjustment to existing items such as doors, locks, hinges), basic plumbing, and general DIY-style repairs
  • Assist in the upkeep of older properties, helping us maintain their original character
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Keep outdoor areas tidy with light gardening (weeding, trimming hedges)
  • Ensure communal and exterior spaces remain safe, clean, and well-maintained
  • Perform regular compliance checks, such as fire alarm tests
  • Liaise with external contractors and manage site access
  • Use our simple app-based system to log tasks and flag recurring issues
  • Provide friendly, respectful customer service to tenants and clients

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in property maintenance, facilities, or a similar hands-on role
  • Practical skills in basic joinery, painting, and basic plumbing
  • Confidence working independently and managing a varied workload
  • A proactive, can-do attitude with attention to detail
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • A full, clean UK driving licence (essential – you’ll travel between sites)

Valued Extras

  • Trade certifications (e.g. CSCS card)
  • Experience working with residential or commercial properties, especially in housing or facilities management

A driving licence is essential for this role to transport between multiple sites.
