The Role
As our Business Development Manager, you'll own top-of-funnel lead generation through both outbound prospecting (60-70% of your time) and inbound optimisation (30-40%). You'll work directly with the Managing Director who sets strategy - you execute and drive results. This is an execution-focused role. You'll receive strategic direction and target ICPs, then independently build campaigns, make the calls, send the emails, and book the meetings. You'll also optimise our inbound systems (website, email nurtures, LinkedIn content) to improve conversion. Your Primary KPI will be qualified sales opportunities per month.
What You'll Do
- Outbound Execution (60-70%):
- Build targeted prospect lists aligned to our Ideal Customer Profile (ICP)
- Execute multi-touch outbound campaigns (calls, emails, LinkedIn)
- Qualify inbound and outbound leads using BANT framework
- Book qualified meetings for senior sales team
- Manage your pipeline in Salesforce from first touch to handoff
- Optimise website for lead conversion (CTAs, forms, messaging)
- Build and maintain email nurture sequences
- Create and post regular LinkedIn content (company + personal)
- Run simple campaigns (webinars, events, etc.)
- Ensure leads are captured and followed up properly
- Track all activity and results in CRM
- Weekly reporting on key metrics (calls, meetings, conversion rates)
- Test and iterate on messaging, targeting, and channels
Who You Are
- Essential:
- 3-5 years in Sales Development / Business Development, inside sales, or growth roles (B2B preferred)
- Proven track record of hitting/exceeding outbound targets
- Comfortable on the phone - not afraid of rejection or high activity
- Working knowledge of sales tools (CRM, Sales Navigator, email automation)
- Can take strategic direction and independently execute
- Self-starter mentality - takes initiative on the 'how' when given the 'what'
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Organised, metrics-driven, competitive mindset
- Right to work in UK
- B2B SaaS or vertical software experience
- Experience building inbound systems (email nurture, website optimisation, content)
- Familiarity with drinks wholesale, FMCG, or retail sectors
Reporting
You'll report directly to the Managing Director. This is a hands-on partnership - you'll have weekly check-ins for strategic direction, while owning day-to-day execution independently.
