An established construction contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor (MEP) to join the commercial team on a major project based in Exeter. This is a large-scale development involving multiple new-build blocks alongside the refurbishment of an existing building, offering the opportunity to work within a sizeable commercial team on a technically complex scheme. This role will focus primarily on the MEP packages, managing the commercial and contractual elements from procurement through to final account.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage commercial performance of MEP packages on a major construction project.
- Prepare and manage cost/value reconciliation reports.
- Submit and agree interim valuations and stage payments.
- Support preparation and agreement of final accounts.
- Manage subcontractor accounts, valuations and variations.
- Prepare and issue subcontract documentation in line with procurement programmes.
- Monitor project cash flow and prepare forecast reports.
- Identify commercial risks and report to senior management.
- Attend project meetings and support the wider commercial team.
- Assist in resolving contractual matters and potential disputes.
Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment.
- Experience managing MEP packages on construction projects is highly desirable.
- Strong commercial awareness and cost management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and work within a team on complex projects.
