Iām recruiting for a highly motivated and experienced Geo-Environmental Professional to take a leading role in developing and expanding a Geosciences team based in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual with a strong technical background, proven leadership abilities, and a desire to play a pivotal role in shaping and growing a high-performing team.
The successful candidate will take on a strategic position, overseeing project delivery, mentoring junior professionals, and driving business growth across a wide range of land development and site investigation projects.
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Manchester-based Geosciences team
- Mentor and support junior colleagues in their professional development
- Oversee the planning, execution, and quality assurance of geo-environmental and geotechnical investigations
- Manage client relationships and liaise with contractors and stakeholders
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards
- Contribute to business development and support the expansion of services regionally and nationally
- A degree in Environmental Science, Earth Sciences, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, or a related field (BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng)
- Chartered or working towards chartership with a recognised professional body (e.g., CGeol, CSci, CEnv)
- Substantial experience in UK-based geo-environmental consultancy, with a solid understanding of ground investigation, risk assessment, and remediation strategies
- Demonstrable experience in team management, project oversight, and technical reporting
- Strong leadership and organisational skills with the ability to inspire and guide a team
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities
- Proven capability in managing multiple projects, budgets, and deadlines
- Commitment to professional development, both personally and in supporting others
- Willingness to travel for site visits and occasional national/international assignments (a full, clean UK driving license and valid passport are required)
