We have a great opportunity available for an experienced Environmental Consultant specialising in the water environment to take on a Principal Consultant role focused on environmental assessment and project coordination. This position combines technical expertise, leadership and project delivery across complex environmental programmes within freshwater, estuarine and coastal environments.

  • Lead and author water-related environmental assessments and technical reports
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs across water quality, hydrology, hydromorphology, groundwater, flood risk and aquatic ecology
  • Deliver high-quality outputs including Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Water Framework Directive (WFD) assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA) and monitoring programmes
  • Manage environmental appraisal projects from planning through delivery
  • Engage with clients and manage expectations throughout project lifecycles
  • Contribute to the growth and development of environmental assessment services

Qualifications:

  • MSc or PhD in Environmental Science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in environmental consultancy or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, particularly the Water Framework Directive
  • Experience delivering water-related environmental impact assessments
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary environmental projects
  • Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills
  • Experience working with clients and supporting project delivery
  • Commercial awareness and experience contributing to proposals or tenders
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with HRA assessments and GIS software
  • Full UK driving licence
