WCA Functional Assessor – London | Occupational Therapists Wanted, Just 1 Year of Experience

Β£49,934 starting salary | Β£1,000 uplift on completion of training | 10% bonus | Total package potential Β£56,000+

Just one year post-registration? This role could transform your career. Most clinical OT roles at your stage pay Band 5 or equivalent. This one starts at Β£49,934 β€” with full training, no assessment experience required, and only 12 months post-registration experience needed to apply.

The Best Reasons to Apply?

A significant salary step up, early in your career. Starting at Β£49,934, rising to Β£50,934 after training, plus a 10% bonus β€” a total package over Β£56,000. For many Occupational Therapists, that's a substantial increase on what you're earning now.

Your life back.

Monday to Friday, daytime hours. No nights, no weekends, no on-calls, no last-minute shift changes. Plan your evenings, weekends and holidays like everyone else. You stay a clinician.

This is clinical work

β€” assessment, clinical reasoning, evidence-based reporting. Your HCPC registration stays active, your CPD is supported, and clinical supervision and audit are built in.

Structured training and a clear pathway.

A comprehensive, fully paid training programme takes you from day one to accredited assessor β€” with mentorship throughout, and defined progression routes into senior assessor, audit, training and leadership roles.

Work that matters.

Your reports directly inform DWP decisions on the support people receive. It's responsible, meaningful work where your clinical judgement counts.

About the Role

As a WCA Functional Assessor, you'll conduct Work Capability Assessments with people claiming health-related benefits, evaluating how their health condition or disability affects their ability to work, and producing clear, evidence-based reports for the DWP.

Who Can Apply

  • HCPC-registered Occupational Therapists
  • Minimum 12 months post-registration experience
  • Strong written communication and clinical reasoning skills
  • No previous assessment experience needed β€” full training provided
