A family based between London and Scotland is seeking a nanny to care for their three boys aged 3, 5, and 6. The role is split between West London during term time and the family's farm on the West Coast of Scotland during the holidays, approximately 16 weeks of the year.
The Scottish setting is truly special, with days filled on the beach, building dens, picnics, cycling, and making fires. The family would love a nanny who embraces outdoor activities and proactively creates adventure. The ideal candidate enjoys the idea of putting the children in a trailer, hopping on the quad bike, and heading down to the beach, lighting a fire, and coming up with fun and exciting plans.
During term time, the family lives in Acton, a residential area called Poet's Corner, a short walk from Churchfield Road with its cafés, delis, and restaurants. Acton Park is five minutes away, and Acton Main Line is a six-minute walk, with central London reachable in around twenty minutes. The boys' cousins live nearby, and many friends in the area have children of similar ages, creating a strong local community.
Both parents work from home running their own businesses. They start work around 8am and aim to be back with the boys around 6pm, after tea and bath time. The nanny's experience and judgement are valued, and they are looking for someone confident and proactive.
The boys all leave the house at 8am. The youngest attends nursery Tuesday to Thursday from 8.30am to 3pm, with staggered pick-ups for nursery and school in the afternoon. After school, they come home unless they have swimming, football, or a playdate. They tend to play or do homework until tea at around 5pm, followed by bath time and bedtime around 7 to 7.30pm. The role includes supporting these routines, preparing simple meals for the children, and helping keep the house tidy at the end of the day.
The position can be live-in or live-out in London. The nanny would have their own floor in the London house with an en-suite bathroom and small kitchenette, providing privacy and independence. In Scotland, the nanny will have a bedroom overlooking the sea, their own bathroom, a separate sitting room for evenings, and their own access in and out of the house. The family encourages the nanny to treat the space as their home and welcomes friends or family to stay during longer periods in Scotland. They are extremely conscious to ensure their nanny has space and privacy, and their time off is fully respected.
Driving is preferred but not essential. The school run is typically done by cargo bike, which the family finds more efficient and fun. The role would suit someone who enjoys being active and outdoors.
