Gafoor is a dynamic and rapidly growing family-owned business in Preston looking for an experienced electrical engineer with a strong background in food manufacturing. Gafoor is a key player in their sector operating in a modern, BRC accredited facility supplying some of the biggest and most progressive names in the grocery, retail, and wholesale sector on a national basis.

About the Role:

We are looking to recruit electrical engineers who will work closely with the manufacturing team maintaining and servicing all processing machinery to ensure that machinery downtime is kept to a minimum and that all preventative maintenance is conducted to avoid production disruption. You will need to have worked in a similar manufacturing environment and be able to carry out preventative maintenance, fault finding and deal with machine down-time efficiently. The candidate will rotate as part of a multi-disciplinary team working across both day and night shifts. Excellent communication skills are a must as well as a flexible and proactive approach to ensure the needs of the business are met. Occasional weekend work is required for installation and larger scale maintenance projects in order to avoid disruption during normal production times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete repairs and breakdowns in a timely manner and perform RCA's (Root Cause Analysis) to ensure corrective and preventative actions are completed.
  • Maintain the highest standards of housekeeping.
  • Comply with all company Health & Safety rules and be able to escalate any failures.
  • Work closely with the Engineering Manager and the Manufacturing Managers.
  • Be part of an Engineering team dedicated to providing a world class service.
  • Be confident to communicate effectively and have the initiative to take the lead when required.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and practices.
  • Comply with all existing SWPs and contribute to the continuous improvement of SWPs.
  • In the future support and mentor Electrical Apprentices on site.

About you:

The candidate must have skills and experiences in the following areas:

  • Must be fluent in English (verbal and written)
  • Excellent I.T Skills
  • Electrical Degree and a good practical working knowledge is essential, some mechanical experience is desirable
  • Experience working on electrical schematics, circuit and wiring diagrams
  • Minimum 3 years' post qualification experience working in a fast-paced factory environment.
  • Good experience and able to demonstrate a methodical approach to fault finding, including PLC's
  • Conversant with UK Health & Safety rules, regulations, and best practices.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and concisely record information
  • Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
