Office Based, with travel to sites across Scotland. We are currently looking for a Machine Operator to join our team. This is a key role in our operations, supporting the installation of overhead and underground utility infrastructure while maintaining the highest standards of safety and performance.

The primary responsibility of the Machine Operator is to erect poles, dig holes for stays, and excavate trenches for underground cables, ensuring all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with company and client standards. You will play an essential part in promoting and maintaining a strong health and safety culture, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and company procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Operate machinery to erect poles, dig holes, and prepare trenches for underground cabling.
  • Promote and maintain a positive health, safety, and environmental culture across all work activities.
  • Ensure compliance with SPEN/IEC plant and vehicle movement safety rules.
  • Conduct daily pre- and post-operation checks and complete associated documentation.
  • Ensure all plant and lifting operations are carried out safely, within load limits, and by trained personnel.
  • Maintain valid authorisations, certifications, and training to operate plant and vehicles.
  • Report hazards, defects, or unsafe conditions immediately and take appropriate action.
  • Participate in team briefings, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety training.
  • Take responsibility for company tools, equipment, PPE, and vehicles, ensuring they are properly maintained and used.
  • Communicate effectively with the operations team and represent Gaeltec Utilities UK Ltd in a professional manner.
Qualifications
  • Type C Driving License (Essential)
  • CSCS or equivalent
  • HIAB Certification
  • Experience in utilities or construction industries
