This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast growing FMCG manufacturer & supplier to the UK convenience retail sector. You will be joining a supportive and ambitious team and playing a key role in the day-to-day ownership of the finance function as the business continues to grow.
This is a hands-on finance role with clear ownership of the day to day accounts and responsibility for keeping senior management informed and in control. The role involves staying on top of monthly accounts, proactively following up on outstanding items, and highlighting key issues and trends. You will be the main internal point of contact for finance, working closely with directors and senior management to provide regular updates and clear reporting.
Responsibilities
- Full ownership of the purchase ledger and sales ledger.
- Accurate and timely data entry into Sage 50.
- Completion and submission of VAT returns.
- Monitoring and controlling debtors and creditors, including proactive credit control and payment chasing.
- Managing bank postings and reconciliations.
- Preparation of regular management information, including monthly summaries, variance analysis, and commentary for senior management.
- Proactively following up on outstanding items and ensuring issues are resolved, not just identified.
- Gathering and preparing information for year-end accounts and liaising with external accountants.
- Acting as a key finance contact for internal and external stakeholders.
- Responding to finance-related queries from customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Supporting the wider business with ad-hoc finance and reporting tasks as required.
Skills & Experiences
- Proven experience in a senior bookkeeping or hands-on accounts role.
- Competent in Sage 50 Accounting Software, Microsoft Office applications and Google Drive.
- Part-qualified or chartered accountants (CCAB) considered where there is strong hands-on experience.
- Highly organised, detail-focused, and proactive in following tasks through to completion.
