About The Role

We are currently looking for an experienced and commercially minded Senior People Advisor to join us, acting as the dedicated HR lead for our Marine and Terminal Services (MATS) business area.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR professional who enjoys working closely with operational leaders, managing complex employee relations matters, supporting organisational change and helping to build management capability.

As Senior People Advisor – MATS, you will be the primary HR contact for managers and employees across the division, providing expert advice and practical support across all aspects of the employee lifecycle.

You will lead on complex employee relations matters, support workforce planning and organisational change, build strong relationships with managers, and help develop leadership capability across the business.

This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact by influencing people decisions, supporting business performance and contributing to the continued development of GAC's people strategy.

What would your day at GAC look like?

  • Act as the dedicated HR lead for Marine & Terminal Services (MATS), building strong relationships with managers and employees and providing commercially focused HR support.
  • Partner with managers to support workforce planning, recruitment, succession planning and organisational change initiatives.
  • Support workforce transitions and TUPE related activity
  • Lead and manage employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability and performance processes.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with trade union representatives and support consultation and industrial relations activities.
  • Coach and develop managers to improve capability, consistency and confidence in managing people matters.
  • Support employee engagement, wellbeing and culture initiatives that contribute to retention and organisational performance.
  • Identify skills gaps and development needs within the business and support learning, leadership and career development initiatives.
  • Use people data and insights to identify trends, risks and opportunities and support effective decision-making.
  • Support the Head of People in delivering the HR strategy, driving continuous improvement and developing management capability across the business.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior members of the HR team, helping to build future capability within the function.
  • Job Requirements

What are we looking for? We are looking for someone who brings both strong employee relations expertise and the ability to build trusted relationships with operational managers.

  • You Will Ideally Have
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent experience).
  • Significant experience in a generalist HR or HR Advisory role.
  • Strong experience managing complex employee relations matters.
  • Experience working with trade unions
  • Sound knowledge of UK and Irish employment legislation.
  • Experience supporting managers in operational environments.
  • Experience in supporting TUPE transfers
  • Excellent communication, coaching and influencing skills.
  • The ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • A proactive, organised and commercially focused approach to HR.
