GAC Education is recruiting dedicated Teaching Assistants to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across mainstream primary and secondary schools, resourced bases, and specialist SEN provisions throughout Hull (including HU1–HU9, Cottingham, and Hessle). Whether you specialise in 1:1 support for pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, or Moderate/Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD), or hold experience in sensory regulation and nurture strategies, we offer stable long-term block placements and flexible day-to-day cover tailored to your schedule. Key Responsibilities * Providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support to help pupils achieve individual outcomes outlined in their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). * Implementing sensory routines, visual timetables, and adaptive learning materials in coordination with the class teacher and SENCO. * Assisting with emotional regulation, utilizing positive behaviour support strategies and proactive de-escalation techniques. * Fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment that promotes pupil independence, confidence, and well-being. * Maintaining strict adherence to school safeguarding guidelines and child protection procedures. Candidate Requirements * Proven experience supporting children or young adults with SEND, complex needs, or ASC in an educational, care, or youth work setting. * A solid understanding of child protection procedures and statutory Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance. * An Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete a new check during onboarding). * Alternative communication skills (PECS, Makaton) or de-escalation training (e.g., Team-Teach, MAPA, or Safety-Intervention) are highly desirable.
