We are seeking a meticulous and driven Compliance Engineer to take full ownership of our product regulatory lifecycle. In this role, your primary mission will be to ensure that our entire portfolio of hardware products achieves and maintains full global compliance. From managing an extensive library of certificates to guiding engineering teams through the nuances of international standards, you will be the gatekeeper of our product integrity and market readiness. If you love technical documentation, navigating regulatory frameworks, and have a moderate understanding of electronics and RF, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Certification Management: Act as the primary custodian for all product certificates, declarations of conformity, and technical construction files, ensuring they are accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessible.
- Regulatory Roadmap: Lead the compliance process for all products from prototype to mass production, securing necessary approvals for global markets (e.g., CE, FCC, UKCA, RoHS, REACH).
- Testing Coordination: Plan, manage, and oversee compliance testing with external test houses and certification bodies for EMC, safety, wireless, and environmental standards.
- Standards Monitoring: Stay ahead of evolving global regulations and standards, assessing their impact on our existing product line and future roadmap.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with engineering and product teams to integrate 'compliance by design' into the early stages of product development.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: Proven track record as a Compliance Engineer, Regulatory Affairs Specialist, or similar role within a hardware manufacturing environment.
- Certification Expertise: Deep knowledge of global regulatory frameworks, approval processes, and documentation standards.
- Organizational Mastery: Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage complex databases of certificates and technical files across multiple product lines.
- Communication Skills: Ability to translate complex legal and technical regulatory language into actionable insights for engineering and business teams.
- Driving Licence: You will need to have a full UK driving licence and be prepared for some travel as part of the role.
Beneficial Skills
- Electronics Design Knowledge: Background or foundational knowledge in electronic design (schematics, components, or PCB layouts). This will help you proactively identify compliance risks during the design phase and effectively troubleshoot any test failures with the engineering team.
