About The Role

We are looking to recruit a Mechanical Engineer/Plumber to join our team. This is full-time working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 8 am and 5 pm. You will be required to cover a number of schools in the area for which you will be provided with a company van (for site use).

The successful candidate will be required to deliver both planned and reactive maintenance and have a good knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, Pumps, Heating systems, AHUs, water systems and Legionella Control.

Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • To assist in the delivery of the maintenance service in line with the contracted agreement and to ensure the delivery of service is undertaken within the allocated timescales and budgetary targets, working with the hard services manager.
  • To support the Hard Service Manager in the delivery of day to day operations of the Greenwich School contract PFI.
  • To be flexible when required to support Tower Hamlets Schools PFI contract in the event of staff shortages, cover for sickness and annual leave.
  • To work with the Hard Services Manager to ensure that the day to day operation meets the contract SLAs and KPIs and the periodic auditing of all documentation completed.
  • Carry out PPMs to all related tasks within competency and skill set, complete, close off within allocated time scales.
  • To work closely with the Hard Service Manager, to ensure smooth operation of the delivery of the service.
  • To assist in the monitoring of the WIP (Work In Progress) to ensure job closure, through Concept.
  • To ensure all M&E Statutory Compliance records are kept and are ready for inspection when requested through periodic auditing.
  • To complete and submit all required data as requested by the Hard Services Manager.
  • Assist in the smooth running of the day to day maintenance delivery to sites allocated.
  • To maintain a high level of site Health and safety throughout the companies/clients workplace.
  • To assist in the monitoring of all visitors/contractors whilst under the management of G4S.
  • Monitoring of site documentation, maintenance records, and logs ensuring all scheduled Plan Preventative Maintenance is carried out as scheduled.
  • Advising SSMT on monthly report covering Statutory requirements and activities within the period to the Administrative Assistant.

Essential Skills:

  • NVQ Level 3/City and Guilds or equivalent within the building/maintenance industry with regards to Mechanical/Plumbing Skills.
  • Must have a good understanding of commercial boilers, Pressurization systems, HVAC.
  • Have 3-5 years experience within the building/maintenance industry.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Proactive approach to service delivery.
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels.
  • Calm disposition and ability to prioritise.
  • Good working knowledge of maintenance activities to include Planned, reactive and Statutory Maintenance.
  • Must be willing to undertake Enhanced DBS checks.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience within PFI school contracts.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Asbestos awareness.
  • Water Management - Legionella, L8, Temp Testing.
