We are looking for a Data and Automation Specialist to provide comprehensive financial and system support to users by managing and maintaining various financial systems, data and automation.
What we can offer you:
- Salary: Up to £28,512 base plus a generous annual leave allowance and benefits.
- Location: The role will be based at our Worksop Office with some flexibility for working from home. You will be required to attend the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
About The Role
In this role, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive financial and system support to users by managing and maintaining various financial systems and data. This role ensures data accuracy, compliance, and efficient operations by responding to user requests, troubleshooting issues, and implementing necessary changes across multiple platforms. You will be working with both our onshore and offshore teams, supporting with designing and optimising scripts using Google Apps Script to keep our Financial Shared Services operations running like clockwork.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Automation & Scripting: Sole responsibility and lead the design, development, and optimisation of automation solutions using Google Apps Script (JavaScript), Google Forms, and Google Sheets to streamline FSSC workflows.
- System & Administration: Act as the sole and technical administrator for a multi-platform environment, including SAP S4HANA, Blackline, iTop, and Great Plains, ensuring seamless data flow between systems.
- Incident Engineering: Proactively troubleshoot and perform root-cause analysis on script failures or data discrepancies, ensuring minimal downtime for critical financial month-end processes.
- MI & Business Intelligence: Extract, manipulate, and visualise complex datasets to provide the business with high-quality MI reports and dashboards (using Looker and advanced Sheets/Excel).
- Process Engineering: Identify systemic inefficiencies and "challenge the status quo" by proposing and implementing automated alternatives to manual data entry and reconciliation.
- Documentation & Governance: Maintain high-standard technical documentation and schematics for all scripts and system integrations, ensuring business continuity and compliance with financial controls.
- Project Delivery: Lead smaller-scale automation projects from requirement gathering to deployment, while supporting the R2R Lead on large-scale ERP migrations or system upgrades.
- Oversight of the offshore external provider (TCS), in their use of the products and processes and giving them guidance.
The Ideal Candidate
We are searching for someone with an "Automation Mindset" a person who naturally seeks a better way and has the technical tenacity to build it. You'll need analytical rigour to ensure 100% data accuracy and the communication skills to translate "script-speak" into plain language for our finance stakeholders. You will hold the following skills:

- Automation: Google Apps Script (Advanced JavaScript-based scripting)
- ERP Systems: SAP S4 Hana (Data extraction & Finance modules)
- Data & MI: Advanced Data Manipulation (Complex formulas, Querying)
- Finance: Solid understanding of R2R processes & Financial Controls
- Workflow: Blackline (Admin) & iTop (Service Management)
Additional Desirable Skills:
- Automation: API Integrations (REST/JSON)
- ERP Systems: Great Plains, SAP BPC (EPM, Blackline)
- Data & MI: Google Looker / Data Studio or similar
- Finance: Knowledge of SOX or Audit requirements
- Workflow: Project Management methodology (Agile/Lean)
