Job Description:
An opportunity to be a big part in the development of the business capture team, providing bid management skills that will support future growth plans for the business.
This role will be key in assisting in the development of our wider business development opportunities. We are looking to develop in new technological areas such as future sustainability programmes including Hybrid Power, Wider Decontamination projects, Desalination and the growing requirements for support to UAS & Drone programmes.
We are looking for a candidate that will provide additional engineering knowledge to compliment the Equipment Systems and Support team, and work together to provide depth in our team’s knowledge to support key bids.
Responsibilities:
- Instrumental in capturing new business for the Company by creating winning bids.
- Manage the requirements for the capture of new business opportunities:
- Develop bid strategies and concepts of operation.
- Manage the full bid process including work breakdown structure and technical solution development.
- Production of bid proposals & associated plans
- Manage relationship’s with the client ensuring clear lines of communications are established and that their requirements are fully understood.
- Lead Cost Estimation & Pricing processes and submit for approval.
- Bid review and general bid team management.
- Ensure that the final bid submissions meet the highest quality standards.
- Work with the Design & Engineering team during the bid lifecycle to coordinate inputs to the technical bid solution.
- Support the sub-contractor and supplier selection process, in conjunction with Quality, Technical & Supply Chain personnel.
- Liaison with the Supply Chain Manager to identify suppliers/sub-contractors and help produce the associated scopes of work in support of bids.
- Work with the Commercial Manager to produce the commercial aspects of the proposals.
- Support Marketing and Business Development by managing the preparation and supply of technical information.
- Represent the company to existing customers and potential new clients, including presentation of company & programme capabilities and bid solutions to customer assessment teams.
- Ensure compliance with Company Business Operating Procedures and development of new processes and procedures to meet the business objectives.
- Attendance at Gate Reviews and other related proposal reviews as required.
- Responsible for the handover of complete bid packages to Operations following successful bid awards.
- Responsible for the provision of accurate bid status & tracking information to maintain the G3 Systems Salesforce pipeline tool.
- Maintain communications and liaison with Operations, HR, Supply Chain, Finance, Commercial, Design & Engineering and QHSE departments/functions.
- Responsibility for the management of archived information relating to all previous bid activity that requires retention, in accordance with the Company’s Records Retention Business Process.

Qualifications Required:
- Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, with at least 3 years’ experience in a Bid / Capture role.
Skills / Experience Required:
- Flexible and proactive approach to grow within an expanding team.
- Experienced in setting out the bid strategy, plans and proactively managing the bid team as required.
- Experienced in developing bids and managing the process to bid submission.
- A proven track record for delivering small bids (£500K – £2M) and larger bids (£5M – £50M)
- Commercial and estimating experience.
- Good project management skills to manage key bids to service delivery.
- Experienced in working on MoD bids and having a good understanding of the commercial processes in contracting with the UK MoD
- Good technical understanding or background of engineering principles.
