We are seeking a Construction Business Development Manager to join our BD team, focused on securing and developing opportunities that progress from concept through to on-site delivery. This role is firmly rooted in the construction lifecycle, shaping projects that are designed, manufactured, built, and deployed in the field.
You will play a key role in driving the construction pipeline, identifying opportunities and leading bid activity through pre-qualification, tender submission, and negotiation to secure commercially viable projects.
What you’ll be doing:
- Drive new construction opportunities, from lead generation through to bid submission and contract award.
- Manage a robust opportunity pipeline, tracking all bid stages and supporting informed bid/no-bid decisions.
- Lead end-to-end bid activity, including PQQs, RFQs, ITTs, and RFPs, working with cross-functional teams.
- Prepare and deliver compelling tender submissions, presentations, and capability statements.
- Build strong client relationships and act as the main point of contact throughout the bid lifecycle.
- Identify strategic partnerships and joint ventures to strengthen bids and expand service offerings.
- Represent G3 at industry events and networking forums, promoting our construction capabilities.
- Support growth strategies, bid prioritisation, and market development with senior leadership.
- Ensure smooth handover of successful bids into delivery teams and participate in project kick-offs.
- Maintain compliance, accurate documentation, and continuous improvement of business development processes.
Why this role is different:
- Unique project environments – Our work goes beyond conventional construction, supporting complex, remote, and often challenging environments across defence, government, and international development sectors.
- Cross-functional exposure – Work alongside Design, Engineering, Commercial, and Operations teams, gaining broader experience than a typical siloed BD role.
- International scope – Engage in projects and bids that span global locations, including FCDO and donor-funded programmes.
- Agile and growing business – As part of a dynamic and expanding organisation, you’ll have the opportunity to influence processes, strategy, and how we win work.
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline (preferred).
Who you are:
- You’re someone who has experience in construction business development, pre-construction, or bid coordination.
- Working knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4) and their application in delivery.
- Some exposure to FCDO or donor-funded / international development projects.
- Understanding of public sector procurement, compliance, and framework-based delivery.
- Commercially aware, with ability to support pricing, risk assessment, and bid viability.
- Experienced in preparing tender submissions and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong organisation and communication skills, managing multiple bids and deadlines.
- Proactive, collaborative, and willing to travel occasionally for client meetings or project mobilisation.
- Good attention to detail, particularly in the preparation and review of bid documentation.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to support client meetings, bid activities, or project mobilisation.
Not sure if you meet every requirement? We know great candidates don’t always meet every requirement. If you’re interested in the role and feel it could be a good fit, we’d encourage you to apply. We value different perspectives and are committed to building an inclusive team.
What you’ll get in return:
- Work on high-profile UK and international construction projects.
- Join a collaborative, technically driven team.
- Gain exposure to real-world construction challenges, from bid through to delivery.
- Opportunities for career development within a growing, specialist organisation.
Benefits:
- Competitive salary from £65,000 per annum, with potential to offer more for candidates with relevant experience.
- 25 days annual leave.
- Private Medical Insurance (BUPA) including Dental Cover.
- Salary sacrifice schemes (including eBike and electric vehicles).
- Access to wellbeing platforms.
Location & Working Pattern:
This role is offered on a hybrid basis, with time split between home working and our Portland, Dorset office at Osprey Quay.
