A highly regarded law firm is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Employment Solicitor to strengthen its Employment team. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented employment law specialist who enjoys managing complex contentious matters while playing an active role in developing both the team and the wider business. The successful candidate will be trusted to lead on high-value Employment Tribunal cases and employment disputes, working closely with a broad range of clients to deliver strategic, commercially focused legal advice. Alongside fee-earning responsibilities, they will contribute to the firm's continued growth by supporting business development, mentoring colleagues, and helping shape the future direction of the Employment department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle a broad range of contentious employment law matters from initial instruction through to conclusion, including Employment Tribunal proceedings and workplace disputes.
  • Advise employers on employment law issues, providing practical solutions that balance legal risk with commercial objectives.
  • Develop strong, long-lasting relationships with clients by delivering an exceptional level of service and legal expertise.
  • Identify opportunities to grow the Employment practice through networking, business development and cross-referrals within the firm.
  • Work alongside senior leadership to support departmental objectives and contribute to the ongoing success of the business.
  • Oversee financial aspects of matters, including budgeting, billing, work in progress management and overall profitability.
  • Monitor workloads and support effective resource planning to ensure the team continues to deliver a high-quality service.
  • Share technical knowledge and keep colleagues informed of developments in employment legislation and case law.
  • Coach and support junior solicitors and support staff, encouraging continuous learning and professional development.
  • Collaborate with other legal teams to provide clients with joined-up advice across a range of legal matters.

About you

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Employment Solicitor with a strong background in contentious employment law and Employment Tribunal litigation. They will be confident managing complex cases independently and comfortable advising clients on sensitive and commercially significant employment issues. They will also demonstrate:

  • Excellent knowledge of UK employment law.
  • Strong commercial awareness and sound judgement.
  • Outstanding communication and client relationship skills.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring colleagues.
  • A proactive approach to business development and client retention.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
