An excellent opportunity has become available for a Residential Property Legal Assistant to join a busy and well-established Conveyancing team. This role is ideal for an organised and proactive legal professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is looking to build a long-term career in residential conveyancing. Supporting experienced conveyancers throughout the property transaction process, the successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring matters progress efficiently while delivering a high standard of client care. The position offers ongoing training, career development and the opportunity to gain experience across a wide range of residential property transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support across all stages of the conveyancing process, including:
  • Assisting with freehold and leasehold sales and purchases from instruction through to completion
  • Preparing contract packs, transfer deeds and other legal documentation required during property transactions
  • Reviewing purchase documentation and preparing initial enquiries
  • Ordering and reviewing property searches before reporting findings to clients
  • Obtaining redemption statements and assisting with mortgage-related documentation
  • Reviewing mortgage offers, identifying any issues and preparing reports for clients and lenders
  • Completing identity verification, source of funds checks and gift documentation in line with regulatory requirements
  • Coordinating exchange of contracts and preparing matters for completion
  • Liaising with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders and third parties to ensure transactions progress smoothly
  • Managing post-completion work, including Stamp Duty Land Tax submissions and Land Registry applications

Your Profile

  • Previous experience within a Residential Conveyancing or Property department is desirable
  • A keen interest in developing a career within residential property law
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage a busy and varied workload
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to completing legal documentation
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional telephone manner when dealing with clients and third parties
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Teams. Experience using Proclaim or another legal case management system would be advantageous, although full training will be provided
  • A positive, team-focused attitude with a commitment to delivering outstanding client care
