About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Patents Team on a fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will work across the full spectrum of patent prosecution activities, with exposure to European, PCT and UK applications, as well as foreign filings, assignments and client process design. The team's goal is to develop "full service" Patent Paralegals with broad technical knowledge and autonomy. Collaboration, feedback and continuous improvement are central to the team's success and you will play an active role in shaping how the function evolves.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing patent prosecution matters from filing through to grant across UK, European and PCT applications
- Assisting with foreign patent filings and coordinating with overseas associates
- Preparing and filing formal documents, including assignments and recordals
- Monitoring deadlines and maintaining accurate docketing records
- Liaising with fee earners, clients and foreign counsel to ensure seamless communication
- Supporting the design and refinement of client-specific processes
- Contributing ideas to improve internal procedures and team efficiency
- Ensuring all work is completed accurately and in line with regulatory requirements
Key Requirements
- Previous patents experience, ideally to the level of the Introductory Certificate in Patent Administration (CIPA)
- Strong technical understanding of patent prosecution processes
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive approach with a willingness to take ownership and responsibility
- Team-oriented mindset with the confidence to contribute ideas and feedback
