A well-established and highly regarded legal practice is seeking an experienced Residential Conveyancing Fee Earner to join its specialist Property Team. This opportunity would suit a conveyancing professional looking to manage a varied and high-quality caseload within a supportive and collaborative environment. The firm provides residential property services exclusively to existing Court of Protection, Private Client and Trust clients. It does not undertake high-volume conveyancing work or act for mortgage lenders. As a result, every transaction is bespoke, offering a diverse and intellectually stimulating workload.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Property, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing a broad range of residential property matters from initial instruction through to completion and post‑completion formalities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Opening and setting up new files, including conducting AML and compliance checks
  • Managing freehold and leasehold sales and purchases from instruction through to completion
  • Preparing and submitting SDLT returns and Land Registry applications
  • Commissioning surveys and specialist reports where required
  • Reviewing survey findings and coordinating any necessary follow‑up investigations
  • Liaising with clients, deputies, trustees, surveyors, estate agents and other solicitors throughout transactions
  • Attending client meetings, taking notes and progressing actions arising

What we are looking for

You will have a strong technical knowledge of residential property law and experience managing transactions independently from start to finish. Applicants should possess:

  • A minimum of three years’ experience handling residential conveyancing matters as a fee earner
  • Experience dealing with freehold and leasehold properties, including leasehold flats
  • Experience of both registered and unregistered land transactions
  • Knowledge of tenancy issues, repossession proceedings and general property‑related disputes
  • The ability to review and interpret building surveys and take appropriate action where required

The Opportunity

This position offers the opportunity to work on complex and varied property matters rather than volume conveyancing transactions. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across multiple departments and contribute to delivering a high standard of service to a specialist client base. The firm has a strong track record of developing and promoting talent internally, with genuine opportunities for career progression and professional development. Following induction and training, hybrid working arrangements will be available.

Salary and Benefits

A competitive salary will be offered, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The benefits package includes:

  • 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
  • An additional 1.5 days’ leave during the Christmas period
  • Half‑day leave on the employee’s birthday
  • Private healthcare following successful completion of probation
  • Subsidised gym membership
  • Life assurance at three times annual salary
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Attendance bonus scheme
  • Annual firm performance bonus equivalent to one week’s salary
  • Additional annual bonus for achieving 96% or more of chargeable time targets
  • Long‑service awards at 5, 10 and 15 years
  • IT equipment and home office furniture provided for hybrid working arrangements

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced conveyancing professional seeking a role that combines technical quality, client‑focused work and long‑term career development within a respected legal practice.
