The Role
As a Defence Insurance Associate in Belfast, you’ll handle a broad mix of personal injury litigation matters, acting primarily for insurers and self‑insured organisations.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and assisting on motor, employer’s liability, public liability and disease claims
- Running your own caseload while supporting senior lawyers on more complex disputes
- Drafting pleadings, reports and detailed client advice
- Investigating claims, including liaising with policyholders and taking witness statements
- Reviewing and interpreting medical evidence and expert reports
- Attending court hearings, case reviews and pre‑trial meetings
- Ensuring compliance with client SLAs, reporting standards and reserving requirementsMaintaining accurate file management and correspondence
- Building trusted relationships with clients and key stakeholders
- Supporting business development and wider team initiatives
Qualifications
This role would suit an Insurance Litigation/Personal Injury Solicitor who:
- Has 2–5 years’ PQE (guideline level, flexibility for the right candidate)
- Brings experience in personal injury litigation (defence experience beneficial but not essential)
- Is comfortable managing files within a fast‑paced environment
- Demonstrates strong drafting and analytical skills
- Has an interest in advocacy and court work
- Understands client service delivery, including SLAs and reporting standards
- Takes a proactive, solutions‑focused approach
- Communicates effectively with clients and colleagues
- Enjoys working as part of a collaborative and driven team
