A respected and long-established Yorkshire law firm is seeking a highly experienced Residential Conveyancer to lead the launch and growth of its conveyancing department in Harrogate. This is an exceptionally rare senior-level opportunity for an ambitious conveyancing professional ready to step into a genuine leadership role with long-term strategic influence.

The Opportunity

This is not a standard conveyancing position. The firm is looking for an established senior Conveyancer with the technical expertise, leadership capability and commercial awareness to build and shape an entire department from the ground up. You will have the autonomy to influence systems, processes, recruitment and the overall direction of the conveyancing offering within a highly regarded regional practice.

The Role

  • Building, developing and ultimately leading the residential conveyancing department
  • Managing a high-quality caseload of residential conveyancing matters from instruction through to post-completion
  • Handling a broad range of transactions including freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity, new build matters and shared ownership
  • Supervising, mentoring and developing Junior Conveyancers and support staff as the team grows
  • Playing a key strategic role in departmental growth, recruitment and business development
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with local estate agents, brokers, referrers and clients across Harrogate and the surrounding areas
  • Using the Proclaim case management system confidently and efficiently
  • Ensuring compliance, technical excellence and exceptional levels of client care throughout the department

About You

  • A highly experienced Residential Conveyancer with approximately 10 years’ PQE or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Proven technical expertise across a full range of residential conveyancing matters
  • Previous management, supervisory, or team leadership experience would be highly advantageous
  • Commercially minded with the ambition and capability to build and grow a successful department
  • Strong working knowledge of Proclaim case management software
  • Excellent organisational, communication and client relationship skills
  • Able to balance leadership responsibilities with an active fee-earning caseload
  • Strong local market knowledge of Harrogate and the surrounding Yorkshire property market would be highly desirable
  • A confident and personable professional who enjoys developing relationships and driving business growth

What’s on Offer?

  • A rare opportunity to build and lead a conveyancing department within a respected Yorkshire law firm
  • Senior-level position with genuine autonomy and long-term progression potential
  • Competitive salary package reflective of experience and leadership responsibilities
  • The chance to shape systems, processes and team culture from the outset
  • Strong administrative and operational support
  • A stable, supportive and ambitious working environment
  • Full-time office-based role in Harrogate within a collaborative and professional team

This is a standout opportunity for a Senior Conveyancer seeking far more than a traditional fee-earning role. Positions offering this level of autonomy, influence and progression within the Harrogate market rarely become available.
