A highly respected and nationally recognised law firm is seeking a Solicitor to join its award-winning Child Abuse team. This is an outstanding opportunity to be part of a specialist department at the forefront of complex, high-profile litigation, representing survivors of child abuse and helping to deliver meaningful access to justice.
The Role
You will work closely with senior lawyers and directors, managing your own caseload of child abuse matters from inception to conclusion. The role focuses on cases involving child sexual exploitation (CSE), grooming gangs and other forms of abuse. This is a fee-earning position offering exposure to challenging, impactful work within a supportive and highly experienced team. Applications are welcomed from solicitors at any level of PQE, from newly qualified through to senior practitioners. The firm is committed to finding the right individual who shares its values and passion for this area of law. Flexible working arrangements are available, including the opportunity for remote working, although regular in-person engagement with colleagues and clients will be required. The team is widely recognised for its work on ground-breaking and nationally reported cases and you will be joining a department known for both legal excellence and its commitment to client care.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a caseload of child abuse matters, including CSE, grooming gangs and related claims, from start to finish
- Conducting detailed case reviews and analysing complex documentation
- Providing clear, sensitive and accurate legal advice to clients
- Attending client meetings and offering consistent support throughout the legal process
- Maintaining accurate case files and ensuring compliance with professional and regulatory standards
- Working collaboratively with experts, external agencies and other professionals to build strong cases
- Attending, recording and following up on meetings and key case developments
- Maintaining strict confidentiality and adhering to professional conduct requirements
- Managing case finances responsibly in line with firm procedures
- Completing mandatory training and undertaking additional duties as required
Skills & Experience
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively and professionally with vulnerable clients
- Relevant legal knowledge in child abuse law, particularly CSE, grooming gangs and civil claims for survivors
- Demonstrable experience handling child sexual abuse cases, including client care, case preparation and progression
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail, particularly when reviewing medical and legal records
- A client-focused approach, with a proven commitment to delivering outstanding client care and building trusted relationships
