A well-established regional law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to join its established Real Estate team.
You will provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support to fee earners, while delivering excellent client service and helping to ensure the smooth running of property matters.
The Real Estate team comprises 33 staff across six Midlands offices and handles a broad range of commercial and residential property work.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal secretarial and administrative support to fee earners
- Draft correspondence, undertake audio typing and word processing
- Assist with amendments to travelling draft documents
- Manage legal files, including opening, closing, storage and retrieval
- Maintain diaries, arrange appointments and manage telephone calls
- Communicate professionally with clients and provide excellent client care
- Prepare and submit relevant property documentation and forms
- Undertake electronic property searches
- Assist with Land Registry applications and documentation
- Prepare and submit Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) applications via the HMRC portal
- Complete general administrative duties, including photocopying and document management
Requirements
The ideal Legal Secretary will have
- Previous experience in a legal secretarial role, ideally within commercial or residential property
- Strong communication, organisation and attention to detail skills
- Experience with audio typing and dictation
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel and Docu Sign
- Knowledge of the Land Registry portal and property-related forms
- Experience carrying out electronic property searches
- Experience preparing and submitting SDLT applications through HMRC
- The ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- A calm and professional approach when working under pressure
