We’re supporting a major infrastructure contractor delivering high‑voltage projects across South Wales. They’re looking for an Electrical Project Engineer to join on a freelance basis, working full‑time on site across the Cardiff–Swansea region. This is an initial 6‑month contract with strong potential to extend.
The role offers a 60/40 split between office and site, ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on delivery while staying close to design, QA, and project controls.
Key Responsibilities- Work with design, engineering, and project management teams to deliver HV project scope and electrical requirements.
- Support construction‑issue designs and provide weekly feedback to improve quality and buildability.
- Lead subcontractor and site interface meetings to maintain performance and clarity of scope.
- Manage material approval requests and ensure all works comply with approved specifications.
- Take ownership of technical submittals during the construction phase.
- Attend and coordinate FATs with the project team.
- Conduct daily site inspections, resolve subcontractor issues, and ensure full H&S compliance.
- Review installations against design specifications and construction documentation.
- Raise, track, and close out QA/QC observations using platforms such as Procore or ACC.
- Establish and manage ITPs in line with programme requirements.
- Maintain the project MS Teams workspace, including weekly progress photo uploads.
- Coordinate procurement of electrical materials, equipment, and services.
- Strong IT literacy and confidence using digital project platforms.
- AIS experience (Air‑Insulated Switchgear).
- DNO experience (working with Distribution Network Operators).
- Experience managing and responding to RFIs.
- Background in HV, utilities, or large‑scale electrical infrastructure.
