Remediation Supervisor – 6‑Month Contract (Outside IR35)

Location: UK site‑based (regional / nationwide travel as required)

Contract Type: Ltd Company – Outside IR35

Duration: 6 months (potential extension)

Rate: Competitive, DOE

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Remediation Supervisor to oversee and manage on‑site remediation works across contaminated land and brownfield development projects. The role will involve supervising site activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, compliantly, on programme, and to specification. This is a hands‑on, site‑based role suited to a contractor with strong remediation delivery experience and the ability to manage subcontractors, labour, and environmental controls independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise day‑to‑day remediation activities on site, ensuring works are delivered in accordance with approved method statements and risk assessments
  • Manage site operatives and subcontractors, coordinating resources and plant efficiently
  • Oversee remediation techniques including (but not limited to):
    • Excavation and disposal of contaminated soils
    • Soil treatment and reuse
    • Asbestos‑impacted soil management
    • Groundwater remediation / pump & treat (where applicable)
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSEQ) requirements
  • Environmental permits, waste management plans, and Materials Management Plans (MMPs)
  • Liaise with project managers, consultants, engineers, and client representatives
  • Carry out site inspections, toolbox talks, and daily briefings
  • Maintain accurate site records, including:
    • Daily site diaries
    • Waste transfer documentation
    • Remediation progress reports
  • Identify and report any variations, delays, or technical issues
  • Promote a strong safety culture on site and lead by example

Required Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience working as a Remediation Supervisor / Site Supervisor on UK remediation or brownfield projects
  • Strong understanding of contaminated land remediation processes
  • Waste classification and duty of care requirements
  • Environmental controls and best practice
  • Experience supervising subcontractors and direct labour
  • Ability to work autonomously and make sound site‑based decisions
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Good working knowledge of UK H&S legislation and site compliance

Qualifications & Certifications (Essential / Desirable)

Essential:

  • SMSTS or SSSTS
  • CSCS (Supervisor or Manager level)
  • First Aid at Work

Desirable:

  • Asbestos Awareness
  • Confined Spaces
  • Temporary Works Supervisor
  • NVQ Level 3 or higher in Construction / Civil Engineering / Remediation

IR35 Status

This role is assessed as Outside IR35 and is suitable for engagement via a limited company. The contractor will have control over how services are delivered on site, within agreed project requirements.

Start Date

May 2026, with immediate mobilisation preferred.
