A local authority client of mine are currently urgently on the lookout for an Interim Senior Systems Accountant to join their team and begin next week. Their current postholder will be finishing at the end of May and are keen to ensure that there is enough time for a thorough handover hence aiming towards a next week start date.
Contract Duration: 6 Months (possibilities of extension with upcoming transformation projects in talks).
Rate: DOE
IR35: Inside.
Hybrid: Preference is hybrid working but are also happy considering 100% remote working for the correct candidate.
Days: 5 Days per week.
Start Date: Next week -w/c 11th May 2026.
Main Duties:
- You will have no managerial responsibilities as this will purely be a hands-on doing role.
- Budgeting process.
- Payroll costings for schools in the council. This needs to come out of iTrent, ran through macros, costing reports created and then sent out to all of the schools (the council are aware this isn’t the most efficient way of doing things and are open to suggestions of improvements if achievable within the time frame of the contract but the core focus is BAU).
Successful candidates will:
- Have experience with VBA's (Visual Basics for Applications).
- Have Civica Financials systems experience or other similar systems (e.g. Unit4, Oracle, SAP, Technology One etc.).
- Ideally also have experience with business objects, crystal reports, iTrent etc.
- Whilst the preference is for candidates from a local government background, the client is also happy seeing candidates from private sector backgrounds as long as they have general ledger tools experience.
Interviews will be held over today and tomorrow with a decision to hire made by the end of the week therefore if you match the above criteria and are interested then please don't hesitate to reach out and send your CV to or call me on 0115 666 6399.
