The LV Commissioning Engineer is responsible for the testing, commissioning and verification of low voltage (LV) switchgear and electrical distribution systems prior to energisation and handover.
The role includes secondary injection testing, functional testing, control system verification and energisation support, ensuring systems are safe, compliant and operational.
The LV Commissioning Engineer plays a key role in project delivery and client handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Commissioning of LV switchgear and distribution equipment
- Secondary injection testing of protection devices
- Functional testing of control systems
- Pre-commissioning inspections
- Snagging and defect identification
- Polarity checks
- Alarm and indication testing
- Energisation Support
- Support energisation of systems
- Assist live switching where authorised
- Client witnessing and demonstrations
- Documentation & Reporting
- Completion of commissioning sheets
- Recording of protection settings
- Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Follow company Health & Safety procedures
- Work under permit-to-work systems
- Maintain safe working around live systems
- Comply with RAMS and site rules
- Experience commissioning LV switchgear
- Secondary injection testing experience
- Strong electrical testing knowledge
- Ability to read electrical schematics
- Strong technical and fault-finding ability
- Experience working on client sites
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel, including occasional overnight stays
- Right to work in the UK
- City & Guilds / NVQ Electrical Qualification
- Switchgear manufacturer experience
- Industrial / critical infrastructure experience
- Commissioning documentation experience
