A local government client of mine is looking for an Interim Chief Accountant with substantial previous experience leading on closing down local authorities' accounts and helping through audit to join their team on a 9 month contract.
Contract Duration: 9 Months
Rate: DOE
IR35: Possibility of Outside IR35 (TBC)
Hybrid: As and when needed in office.
Days: 5 Days per week (could possibly also consider part time).
Start Date: ASAP
Main Responsibilities:
- Leading on closedown.
- Taking ownership of the project plan for closedown.
- Manage the delivery of the closedown project plan and ensure that the council delivers outturn reporting and produces a draft statement of accounts by the statutory deadline, alongside the delivery of high quality working papers and supporting evidence as a contribution to ensuring an effective audit process.
- This is very much a hands-on role and there will be no managerial responsibilities.
- The core areas of the accounts are covered e.g. capital, assets, treasury, collection funds etc. This role will be bringing everything together.
Must have:
- A proven track record in leading and delivering successful local authority closedown.
- A current grasp of the accounting code of practice.
