A local authority client of mine based in the Midlands are currently on the lookout for a Head of Corporate Finance to join their team on an interim basis.

Contract Duration: 6 Months +

Rate: DOE

IR35: Inside

Hybrid: X2-3 days per week in office

Days: X5 days per week

Start Date: ASAP

Main duties:

  • Lead the delivery of the Authority’s corporate finance function, ensuring the effective management of statutory reporting, treasury management, capital accounting and wider financial governance activities.
  • Oversee the preparation and sign-off of the Authority’s Statement of Accounts, ensuring compliance with the CIPFA Code, IFRS and all statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the principal contact for external audit and key stakeholders, managing the audit process, resolving complex technical accounting matters and ensuring timely completion of all audit requirements.
  • Provide strategic financial leadership and technical accounting expertise to senior officers and elected members, supporting informed decision-making across corporate finance and organisational priorities.
  • Lead, develop and support corporate finance staff, driving continuous improvement across financial controls, closedown processes, systems and governance arrangements to ensure an efficient and resilient finance service.

Successful candidates will need to have specific local authority experience working at Head of Corporate Finance level or extensive experience working at Corporate Finance Manager level.
