A client of mine working for a local authority is looking to hire an Interim Environmental Health Officer, specializing in food safety, for the next 9 months due to a number of outstanding service requests, and a gap in their team due to a long standing permanent vacancy.

The role is full-time, 37 hours per week, but part-time can also be considered for the right candidate. Hybrid working is standard within this local authority, so it is expected that the candidate placed will be on site between 2-3 days each week depending on the workload.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Food hygiene inspections across all risk categories
  • Food complaint investigations and follow-up actions
  • Providing advice and guidance to food operators and local businesses
  • Preparing inspection reports and enforcement documentation
  • Supporting the wider Environmental Health department where required

Interviews are to be held within the next week and ideally the client will agree a start date within the next 2 weeks.
