We are seeking an ECSS‑qualified Wireman to support advanced battery development projects for space applications. This role offers the opportunity to work on safety‑critical hardware designed for use in satellites and other spacecraft operating in extreme environments.

The Role

You will support the manufacture, assembly, and modification of battery systems and associated electrical harnesses in line with ECSS workmanship standards. Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams, you’ll ensure all hardware meets the stringent requirements of the space sector throughout the development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manufacture, assemble, and inspect electrical wiring, looms, and harnesses in accordance with ECSS‑Q‑ST‑70‑61 (High‑Reliability Electrical Connections)
  • Carry out soldering activities to ECSS‑Q‑ST‑70‑26 (Crimping of High‑Reliability Electrical Connections) where applicable
  • Support battery module and subsystem build activities for space applications
  • Interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and manufacturing instructions
  • Perform crimping, termination, bonding, and continuity checks to space‑grade standards
  • Maintain accurate build records, inspection reports, and quality documentation
  • Support integration, test, and fault‑finding activities
  • Work within cleanroom and ESD‑controlled environments as required

Required Skills & Experience

  • ECSS Wireman qualification, with demonstrated experience working to ECSS‑Q‑ST‑70‑61 and ECSS‑Q‑ST‑70‑26
  • Proven background in space, aerospace, defence, or other high‑reliability electronics environments
  • Strong understanding of ECSS workmanship, quality, and configuration control requirements
  • Ability to follow complex technical documentation and procedures
  • Excellent attention to detail and a quality‑driven approach

Desirable

  • Experience with battery packs, power electronics, or energy storage systems
  • Cleanroom and ESD handling experience
  • Previous involvement in satellite, spacecraft, or flight hardware development programmes
