We are currently working with a Local Authority in Nottinghamshire that is seeking an Environmental Protection Officer to join their team on an initial 6 month contract. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a busy Environmental Health service, dealing with a varied caseload and making a direct impact within the local community. Key Responsibilities * Investigate and resolve statutory nuisance complaints relating to: * Noise * Smoke * Dust * Odour * Light pollution * Undertake environmental monitoring and noise assessments. * Serve notices and carry out enforcement action where required. * Provide environmental health input on planning applications. * Respond to licensing consultations and applications. * Conduct site visits, inspections, and evidence gathering. * Prepare reports and maintain accurate case records. * Liaise with residents, businesses, councillors, and external stakeholders. * Ensure compliance with relevant environmental protection legislation and guidance. Requirements * Previous experience working within a Local Authority Environmental Protection team. * Strong working knowledge of Environmental Protection Act legislation and statutory nuisance investigations. * Experience dealing with planning and licensing consultations. * Ability to manage a varied caseload independently. * Excellent communication and report-writing skills. * Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.
