We are currently supporting a Local Authority in Kent with the appointment of an experienced Senior Environmental Protection Officer on an initial 6-month contract, with a strong likelihood of extension. This is an excellent opportunity for an environmental professional looking to take ownership of a varied caseload while benefiting from a flexible working arrangement. The successful candidate will be required to attend the office/site one Thursday every two weeks, with the remainder of the work completed remotely.

- Air Quality assessments and monitoring
- Reviewing and responding to Planning Applications
- Licensing consultations and compliance matters
- Contaminated Land investigations and assessments
- Environmental Permitting and regulatory functions
- Providing specialist environmental advice to internal and external stakeholders
- Ensuring compliance with relevant environmental legislation and local authority policies
Essential Requirements
- Degree qualification in Environmental Health or a relevant Scientific Discipline
- Previous experience working within a Local Authority Environmental Protection team
- Strong knowledge across Environmental Protection functions including:
- Air Quality
- Planning Consultations
- Licensing
- Contaminated Land
- Environmental Permitting
- Ability to manage a diverse workload independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
