A client of mine working for a local authority is looking to hire an Interim Housing Enforcement Officer, specializing in private sector housing, for the next 9+ months due to a number of outstanding service requests, and a gap in their team due to a long standing permanent vacancy. The role is full-time, 37 hours per week. Hybrid working is standard within this local authority, so it is expected that the candidate placed will be on site between 2-3 days each week depending on the workload.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Investigating housing disrepair complaints
- Undertaking HHSRS inspections
- Managing HMO licensing and compliance cases
- Taking enforcement action under the Housing Act 2004
- Drafting and serving statutory notices
- Providing advice to landlords and tenants
- Strong knowledge of the Housing Act 2004 and HHSRS
- Experience carrying out inspections and enforcement activity
Interviews are to be held within the next week and ideally the client will agree a start date within the next 3 weeks.
