A client of mine working for a local authority is looking to hire an Interim Environmental Health Officer for the next 6 months due to a number of outstanding service requests, and a gap in their team due to a long standing permanent vacancy. The role is full-time, 37 hours per week, but part-time can also be considered for the right candidate. Hybrid working is standard within this local authority, so it is expected that the candidate placed will be on site between 2-3 days each week depending on the workload.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Dealing with inspections relating to complaints such as noise, housing conditions, pollution and public health risks
- Inspecting and regulating the premises to ensure compliance with relevant legislation
- Provide guidance and education to businesses, landlords and the public on all environmental health
- Prepare reports and maintain accurate records in line with legal and organisational standards
- Work collaboratively with other departments, agencies and stakeholders
Interviews are to be held within the next week and ideally the client will agree a start date within the next 2 weeks.
