Overview

Lead Licensing Officer – Rate negotiable – 21hrs per week – Hybrid working pattern – Start date ASAP.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Council's licensing function
  • Lead risk‑based compliance, investigations and enforcement action
  • Conduct inspections of licensed premises and vehicles to ensure compliance with licensed conditions
  • Process all types of licensing applications and temporary event notices
  • Investigate complaints and support enforcement action where necessary
  • Prepare reports of Licensing Sub‑Committee hearings and attend hearings

Essential Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Licensing Act 2003
  • Experience leading a function, project or service area
  • Vast experience in preparing reports and attending Licensing Sub‑Committee hearings
  • Knowledge of enforcement principles, investigations, evidence requirements and relevant legal frameworks such as PACE
  • Fully qualified to carry out animal licensing inspections
