An excellent opportunity has arisen for a bright and ambitious graduate to join a well-established and highly respected IP firm as a Trainee Patent Attorney. Based in their Cheltenham office, the role offers full support through the qualification process and the chance to build a long-term career in the field of intellectual property.

This position is ideal for someone with a strong academic background in electrical engineering, electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline, who is keen to apply their technical knowledge in a legal and commercial context.

The role will involve:

  • Drafting and prosecuting UK, European and international patent applications
  • Working closely with a diverse client base, from individual inventors to multinational corporations
  • Assisting in freedom-to-operate, patentability and infringement analysis
  • Supporting partners and qualified attorneys in contentious and non-contentious IP matters

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A 2:1 or above (or equivalent) in electronic, electrical, mechanical engineering or a closely related subject
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A keen eye for detail and strong analytical skills
  • A genuine interest in law and intellectual property
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines
  • A desire to pursue a long-term career as a Chartered and European Patent Attorney

Previous IP experience is not essential, as full training will be provided.
