A prestigious intellectual property firm is seeking an experienced Trade Mark Paralegal to join its dynamic team in London. Specialising in patents and trade marks, the firm works with some of the world’s most innovative companies and brand owners, providing expert legal support in a highly collaborative environment. The Role
The Trade Mark Paralegal will play a key role in supporting Trade Mark Attorneys by handling a wide range of formalities, portfolio management, and administrative tasks. Working closely with partners, associates, and a specialist IP support team, the successful candidate will be integral in ensuring the smooth running of the trade mark practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and processing trade mark applications across UK, EU, international, and foreign jurisdictions.
- Handling all formalities, including filings, renewals, oppositions, and recordals.
- Monitoring deadlines, managing diaries, and ensuring timely responses to official actions and client instructions.
- Assisting with large portfolio management and recordal projects.
- Preparing responses to official objections and provisional refusals.
- Supporting opposition proceedings by preparing and filing opposition notices and extensions of time.
- Coordinating exhibits for witness statements and maintaining case files.
- Handling post, preparing reporting letters and emails, and responding to client enquiries.
- Liaising with IP offices and foreign associates on trade mark matters.
- Managing billing processes, cost estimates, and client-specific procedures.
- Ensuring all data is accurately recorded in compliance with confidentiality and data protection requirements.
Skills & Experience Required
- Solid experience as a Trade Mark Paralegal within an IP environment.
- CITMA Paralegal qualification (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of UKIPO, EUIPO, and WIPO procedures.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all written and administrative work.
- Excellent organisational and research skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital dictation software.
- Strong communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with senior stakeholders.
- A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
