I'm currently instructed on a standout fully remote Clinical Negligence Solicitor opportunity with an award-winning national law firm recognised for its market-leading Health Litigation practice and progressive, people-first culture. This is a rare opportunity to undertake high-quality defendant clinical negligence work on a fully remote basis, without compromising on support, development or progression.
The Team
You'll join a nationally recognised Health Litigation team specialising in the defence of clinical negligence claims for NHS Resolution, NHS Trusts and other healthcare providers. The team has received significant industry recognition and is particularly well known for:
- Obstetric and neonatal claims
- Complex, high-value brain injury litigation
- Maternity and patient safety matters
- Strategic advisory work within the public health sector
This is an excellent opportunity to deepen or develop expertise in technically demanding and high-profile areas of defendant clinical negligence, supported by experienced and respected practitioners.
The Role
You will manage your own caseload of defendant clinical negligence matters from inception through to resolution. Key responsibilities will include:
- Analysing evidence and conducting investigations
- Drafting detailed advice and reports
- Interviewing witnesses and preparing statements
- Instructing experts and Counsel
- Attending CMCs, hearings and conferences (remotely or in person where required)
- Negotiating settlements
- Preparing cases for trial and ADR
You will also:
- Delegate to and mentor junior colleagues
- Assist on higher-value and complex claims
- Maintain strong client relationships
- Deliver client training and presentations
- Contribute to thought leadership and publications
- Support business development initiatives
- Contribute to continuous improvement within the Health practice
- Have the opportunity to undertake client secondments
About You
This role will suit a solicitor with 3+PQE who is confident managing defendant clinical negligence work and comfortable operating within a remote structure. You will ideally demonstrate:
- Experience handling clinical negligence claims (NHS Resolution or MDO exposure desirable)
- Familiarity with the Early Notification (EN) Scheme and maternity claims, or a clear desire to specialise in this area
- Ability to work autonomously while remaining collaborative
- Strong understanding of client KPIs and reporting protocols
- Proactive, pragmatic and quality-focused approach
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Experience mentoring or supervising junior colleagues
- Strong record of meeting billing and contribution targets
- High standards of confidentiality and data security awareness
