I'm currently instructed on a standout fully remote Clinical Negligence Solicitor opportunity with an award-winning national law firm recognised for its market-leading Health Litigation practice and progressive, people-first culture. The firm has been named a Top Ten Employer for Working Families 2025 for the second consecutive year — a genuine reflection of its commitment to flexibility, wellbeing and long-term career sustainability. This is a rare opportunity to undertake high-quality defendant clinical negligence work on a fully remote basis, without compromising on support, development or progression.

The Team

You'll join a nationally recognised Health Litigation team specialising in the defence of clinical negligence claims for NHS Resolution, NHS Trusts and other healthcare providers. The team has received significant industry recognition and is particularly well known for:

  • Obstetric and neonatal claims
  • Complex, high-value brain injury litigation
  • Maternity and patient safety matters
  • Strategic advisory work within the public health sector

This is an excellent opportunity to deepen or develop expertise in technically demanding and high-profile areas of defendant clinical negligence, supported by experienced and respected practitioners.

The Role

You will manage your own caseload of defendant clinical negligence matters from inception through to resolution. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Analysing evidence and conducting investigations
  • Drafting detailed advice and reports
  • Interviewing witnesses and preparing statements
  • Instructing experts and Counsel
  • Attending CMCs, hearings and conferences (remotely or in person where required)
  • Negotiating settlements
  • Preparing cases for trial and ADR

You will also:

  • Delegate to and mentor junior colleagues
  • Assist on higher-value and complex claims
  • Maintain strong client relationships
  • Deliver client training and presentations
  • Contribute to thought leadership and publications
  • Support business development initiatives
  • Contribute to continuous improvement within the Health practice
  • Have the opportunity to undertake client secondments

About You

This role will suit a solicitor with 3+PQE who is confident managing defendant clinical negligence work and comfortable operating within a remote structure. You will ideally demonstrate:

  • Experience handling clinical negligence claims (NHS Resolution or MDO exposure desirable)
  • Familiarity with the Early Notification (EN) Scheme and maternity claims, or a clear desire to specialise in this area
  • Ability to work autonomously while remaining collaborative
  • Strong understanding of client KPIs and reporting protocols
  • Proactive, pragmatic and quality-focused approach
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior colleagues
  • Strong record of meeting billing and contribution targets
  • High standards of confidentiality and data security awareness

Why Consider This Firm?

Beyond genuine remote working, the firm offers a market-leading benefits package including:

  • 25+ days' annual leave
  • Annual bonus scheme
  • Birthday privilege day & Christmas shutdown
  • Holiday buy, sell and carry-over options
  • Paid charity & pro bono days
  • Optional private medical insurance
  • Annual fitness allowance
  • Pension & ISA savings schemes with independent financial advice
  • Electric/hybrid vehicle scheme
  • Health cash plan & Employee Assistance Programme
  • Enhanced family leave policies
  • Specialist reproductive health & wellbeing support
  • Subsidised emergency/back-up care provision
  • Life assurance & income protection
  • Bespoke training and development programmes
  • Financial contribution towards home-working equipment

Interested? This is a rare opportunity to join a top-tier health litigation practice in a role that truly supports remote working, professional development and work-life balance — without sacrificing the quality or complexity of the work.
